Why we built VerseScroll
VerseScroll is made by Looma, a small studio of just a few people, supported by its readers.
Honestly, it began with our own phones. We knew the feeling too well: open an app “for a minute,” and half an hour of short videos later, come away restless and empty. Scrolling is how a whole generation reads now, and that habit isn't going away. So we asked a different question: could a few minutes of social-feed time become focused time with Scripture? Could the motion your thumb already knows make room for one focused verse while keeping the whole chapter in view?
We borrowed the gesture, not the machinery: there is no feed here deciding what comes next, only the next verse. If anything draws you back, let it be the Word itself: a quiet place to read, reflect, and return, day after day. We believe technology should serve your walk with God, not compete with it.
So we built it plainly: trusted translations, presented as published; a quiet reader; room for your own notes and highlights. And because His Word is for everyone, VerseScroll speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese equally, and works with VoiceOver.
One more thing matters to us. Time in Scripture should move us toward love of our neighbor, so a part of what VerseScroll earns is set aside for people in need, and every month our readers vote on where it goes. The first gift is still ahead of us; when it happens, it will be recorded openly on our giving page.
