Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using VerseScroll ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

2. Services

The App provides Bible reading in multiple translations, reading plans, search, and AI-assisted study aids. Features, content, or availability may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

3. Scripture Content

Scripture text in the App is provided under license through the API.Bible platform of the American Bible Society. Each Bible translation remains the property of its respective copyright holder, and applicable copyright notices are displayed within the App. Scripture content is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial reading and study only; you may not extract, scrape, or redistribute it in bulk.

4. AI-Generated Study Content

Study aids in the App (such as explanations, original-language word studies, and related-verse suggestions) are generated with AI language models. They are provided for reference and devotional use, may contain errors or omissions, and do not constitute professional theological, pastoral, or other advice. The scripture text itself is authoritative over any generated explanation.

5. User Obligations

• Provide accurate, complete information if account registration is required.
• Do not misuse the App, including any unlawful activity, harassment, or infringement of third-party rights or intellectual property.
• Do not attempt to bypass technical or payment restrictions, reverse engineer, or interfere with the App, including automated or bulk extraction of content.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

The App may offer an auto-renewable subscription that provides access to premium features and content. All purchases are processed securely by Apple via your Apple ID account.

• Billing & Renewal. Payment is charged upon confirmation of purchase or after any applicable free trial. The subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Renewal charges may occur within 24 hours prior to the period's end.
• Free Trial. If a free trial is offered, it will convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a trial period is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
• Manage or Cancel. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Removing the app does not cancel your subscription.
• Refunds. Billing and refunds are governed by Apple's App Store policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.

7. Giving Votes

The App may let you cast a periodic vote to help direct Looma's own charitable giving. Votes are advisory: we decide the final recipients, amounts, and timing at our sole discretion, the list of candidate organizations may change, and giving may be executed directly or through third-party donation platforms. Casting a vote is not a donation by you, involves no payment, and confers no tax benefit or receipt. Candidate organizations shown in the App are not affiliated with Looma and do not sponsor or endorse the App.

8. Feedback

If you submit content reports, suggestions, or other feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them to operate and improve the App, without obligation or compensation.

9. Intellectual Property

The App's software, design, and original content are owned by Looma Labs Technology Co., Ltd. This does not include scripture text or other third-party content, which remains the property of its respective owners (see Section 3). You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

• The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
• To the maximum extent permitted, Looma is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or engage in prohibited conduct. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, following good‑faith negotiations and, where applicable, mediation.
